The 30th Edmonton International Fringe Theatre Festival

If there is one festival that is a must see this season, it is the Edmonton International Fringe Theatre festival. It is the largest and longest running festival of its kind in North America. Already on its 30th consecutive year, the Fringe brings more than 200 acts to the indoor and outdoor stages of our city's Old Strathcona area. Here, international and local performers come together to entertain audiences with fun theatrical shows. The shows offer a variety of song, dance, comedy and everything in between. A wide range of performances happen throughout the streets and on outdoor stages, while the Transalta Barn stages offer a more intimate setting.

Personally, I am a huge fan of the Fringe Festival. I love that historic part of the city and enjoy seeing it full of happy Fringe goers. This particular festival offers so much to see and do; I feel like it's the "full meal deal". I can shop the sales and markets on Whyte Avenue, check out the shows and creative works from talented vendors, and eat a ton of the delicious junk food that I can smell from a mile away. The Fringe is a unique, vibrant festival that I would highly recommend to anyone.

The Festival starts August 11, running through until August 21st in Edmonton's Old Strathcona neighborhood. The hours are fantastic and accommodates just about anyone's schedule. The festivities run daily, from noon to midnight, for eleven straight days.
